Hong Kong’s leading busking band, The Flame, started in 2011 and has been performing in the city. Each performance attracts hundreds, sometimes thousands, of fans belting out and swinging to their favourite Canton Pop songs along with lead singer Kit Cheung.

I started documenting their journey in December 2024, when they resumed performing again post-COVID. Their popularity grew dramatically after creating a buzz on social media platforms as their audiences shared their heartfelt performance clips. Each busking performance grew their fan base, and even popular singers came and showed their support and jammed with them on occasions.

The band continued their goal to spread love and encouragement through music, and enabled them to fulfill their dream to record their first Cantonese song — 《美》(“Beauty” in English), written by their very own Kit.
